ACT Community Based Substance Abuse Specialist

Please note: The Substance Abuse Specialist position is for candidates who have prior experience working in the area of mental health.

F/T Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Substance Abuse Specialist works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive community based care management and clinical services to individuals with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder or bipolar disorder. This position serves as a specialist on the team in the area of substance use.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilizes Person-Centered Practices in development of recovery plans
  • Provides on call crisis intervention by covering night time hours and weekends on a rotating basis
  • Manages and assumes primary responsibility to an assigned number of clinical records
  • Acts as a liaison and consults with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process
  • Takes a lead role and participates in the provision of rehabilitation services in conjunction with the ACT model around the area of substance use, including utilization of Harm Reduction
  • Facilitates psychoeducational group with focus on substance use
  • Manages and assumes primary responsibility to an assigned number of clinical records

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology or related Human Services field; CASAC preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation
  • Prefer experience providing community based services with a multidisciplinary team
  • Prefer practical experiences in a mental health clinical or rehabilitation setting
  • Multilingual a plus
