Clinic Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Clinic Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with experience in Behavioral Health Care will serve our growing patient population. The position is between 24 to 40 hours per week working the day shift, Monday through Friday.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, including diagnosis, history, course of illness, and response to treatment, mental status exam
  • Carry client caseload commensurate with part time status, provide ongoing psychiatric care to clients on NP caseload, including evaluation and assessment, diagnosis and medication monitoring
  • Explain role of NP and medications in mental health treatment and recovery
  • Work in collaboration with the Clinic Medical Team, including Clinic Psychiatrist and Clinic RN
  • Provide crisis assessment and management of clients, both on-site and over the phone
  • May provide wellness activities as needed such as health monitoring, consultation with other healthcare providers, or directing nursing staff to monitor particular physical health circumstances and conditions
  • Communicate and consult with teammates to shape quality practice
  • Assist the Team Leader/ Clinic Director in training staff in knowledge and skills basic to treatment of persons with severe and persistent mental illness

Job Requirements:

  • NYS licensed/registered NP with specialty area of Psychiatry required
  • Must have NPI number
  • National Certification through AANP or ANCC
  • Master’s of Science in Nursing
  • 2 years of experience providing NP services to adults in mental health setting; preferably in OMH licensed facility
  • Knowledge of evidence based practices and/or person-centered care a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation
